The medium of communication (instant messaging, phone calls, video calls) affects the way I think about communication—and even the content of communication itself.

It’s interesting that even though voice messages are available, most people still send their messages as text. Easier to edit? Easier to see what you wrote before sending? Easier to consume, so sending a voice message is seen as lazy, putting more work on the recipient?

Hypothesis: If person A feels more powerful/important than person B, they will tend to send voice messages, but prefer to receive text in response.

Prediction: In five years everyone will record voice messages, have an AI transcribe them, and check the text before sending.
