About two years ago I spilled some wax on a carpet. I noticed it only after several days, and when I tried to remove it, I mostly failed. I tried using ice, but without much success. After that I decided that removing wax was very hard, and I would do it sometime later.

A year had passed before I read about using a hot iron and a wet towel to remove wax. I got excited, and decided to try it, but, as with so many things, I didn’t have enough activation energy, and procrastinated on it - every couple of months I would remember, then I would think that it probably wouldn’t be very easy and postpone it.

Recently I started to have much more agency with regard to home improvement. Invigorated, I decided to try it a week ago, only to postpone it for the whole week.

Today I had trouble forcing myself to work on my day job projects, and out of procrastination, I had an impulse to try using the iron. I got the iron, got the towel wet, told myself that it probably wouldn’t work, or maybe it would lead to a mess. I wasn’t in a hurry so I could afford to spend some time dealing with a potential mess.

But it worked. It worked like nothing had ever worked before. After 10 seconds the wax was transferred from the carpet to the towel completely. There was no trace of wax on the carpet. It was magical. I couldn’t believe it had carpet to the towel completely. There was no trace of wax on the carpet. It was magical. I couldn’t believe it had worked so well.
